Students and teachers from a local elementary school leave the Center after a visit.

Anyone who hasn’t visited the Center outside of the summer months may not be aware of the elementary school tours which take place here during the school year.  Students from local schools experience a guided tour of the Center, following the path of an artifact from washing to conservation, drawing, and photography, and on to publication. The students then participate in related activities and have time to ask our specialists about potential careers or archaeology. So far this season more than 100 children from 3 schools have visited and we look forward to a few more tours in the spring.
