Nick Ervin visited Greece this past June with a packed itinerary that included several destinations in the Cyclades and key archaeological sites on Crete. For much of the trip he was joined by Tom Brogan, beginning on Naxos, where T. Carter gave a tour of the excavation of the peak sanctuary at Stelida. From there, they boarded the famed Skopelitissa, which stops at many of the smaller islands in the Lesser Cyclades, including Irakleia and Schoinousa.

At Kouphonisi, they were warmly received by senior members of the Keros Project and given a tour of the excavations on Daskalio and nearby Keros, both of which continue to yield fascinating discoveries. Next, they traveled by boat to Santorini, where they enjoyed an unforgettable guided tour of Akrotiri site by Yiannis Bitis.

For the final leg of the trip, Nick returned to familiar locations in eastern Crete, including the Study Center, where he spent a day in discussion with staff about ongoing needs. He also explored sites with Tom and Carly Henkel, such as Tylissos, Malia, Palaikastro, Kato Zakros, the Sarakina Gorge, and a memorable boat trip to Pseira.

As always, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Nick for his continued support (more on that later this month) and dedication to our work in East Crete!
