Congratulations to Matina Papadaki who just finished sorting the last heavy residue samples from the 2004-2020 campaigns of the Petras Excavation Project directed by Dr. M. Tsipopoulou. Matina estimates the total number of samples to have exceeded 80.000 (is anyone from the Guiness Book of World Records reading this?) of which some 8,700 samples were sorted in the last 12 months. The finds from the heavy residues included a wide range of organic material, particularly human bone, and a rich assortment of small but precious offerings to the dead. Stay tuned to future Petras publications for more details.
