From 6-8 June 2025, the Study Center hosted an international workshop exploring form and phases of Late Minoan IA pottery which was organized by Iro Mathioudaki and Emilia Oddo. The keynote lecture by Carl Knappett set the stage for two full days with 34 papers by 62 authors and closing remarks by Colin Macdonald. The topics included site presentations (e.g., Palaikastro, Petras, Mochlos, Gournia, Stavromenos, Chryssi, Sissi, Mallia, Poros, Knossos, Kommos, Haghia Triada, Akrotiri, Haghia Eirini, Stalida, Çeşme−Bağlararası, Kos, Mitrou) and more theoretical presentations on pottery production, consumption, classification and styles, and the religious and administrative systems of the period. As a collection the papers provided a host of new data, stimulating discussion both during the sessions and the breaks, lunches, and dinners that followed in the village of Pacheia Ammos.

We want to thank all the speakers and colleagues who attended the event and the proedros of the village, Maria Kokkinaki, for allowing us the use of the Teloneio as the venue for the workshop. We also benefited greatly from the feast of sweet and savory snacks prepared by the Women’s Collective of Pacheia Ammos. It would not have been the same event without their Cretan hospitality.
